Mandarin Quick Grammar – No Longer / Anymore 不再


你好!

In this set of posts I will be taking a piece of essential Mandarin Grammar and explaining it in brief.  Each post should only take a maximum of 5 minutes to read.

Today: No longer / Anymore 不再 bú zài

我的狗不再吃(了) wǒ de gǒu bú zài chī xiāngjiāo le – My dog doesn’t eat banana(s) any more / no longer eats banana(s)

Further examples:

中国人不再吃专统食品(了) zhōngguó rén bú zài chī chuángtǒng shípǐn (le) – Chinese people no longer eat traditional food

电视不再是安全(了) diànshì bú zài shì ānquán (le) – TV is no longer safe

外国人在北京不再是特别的事儿(了) wàiguórén zài běijīng bú zài shì tèbié de shì’r (le) – Foreigners in Beijing are no longer a special thing

The ‘le’ in each sentence is optional.
